ARROW student Jonah Hanak presents at Energy Transition Symposium

ARROW student Jonah Hanak, PhD Candidate at UMass Amherst, working with ARROW faculty Emmanuel Branlard, presented the poster “Improving the wake modeling of FAST.Farm to account for veer and shear” at the 2026 Energy Transition Symposium at UMass Amherst.

Jonah’s research showed that adding veer and shear to the wake dynamics formulation in the National Lab of the Rockies’ engineering tool FAST.Farm allows for more accurate prediction of wind turbine wakes in realistic atmospheric boundary layer conditions, leading to more accurate load and fatigue predictions at the wind farm level.
