ARROW student José Luis Amell Hernández presents at 11th Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference

Offshore wind farms interact in complex ways with the atmosphere and the upper ocean. The magnitude of such effects remains uncertain, particularly at low latitudes. University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez PhD candidate and ARROW student José Luis Amell Hernández and his advisor, ARROW faculty Dr. Umberto Ciri, recently presented and published the paper “Ocean Response to Offshore Wind Farms in Tropical Waters” at the 11th Thermal and Fluids Engineering Conference (TFEC 2026) in Tempe, AZ. Their work seeks to reduce this uncertainty through a hydrodynamic modeling study that analyzes the effect of latitude, including tropical conditions for which limited information is available.
