Summer Education Accelerator (SEA)

Dates: May 26-29, 2026

Location: University of Massachusetts Dartmouth – School for Marine Science and Technology

ARROW-SEA, the Summer Education Accelerator, will convene faculty, lab staff, students, and guest instructors from industry, government, and other stakeholders for an annual intensive on offshore wind. Aligned with industry and societal needs, topics will include: TBD.

Providence is the closest airport, and we recommend folks take a taxi or rideshare to the SMAST facility. If travelers choose to fly to Boston, the Silver Line 1 (SL1) bus picks up and drops off at every Logan Airport terminal, with connections to the Commuter Rail at South Station in downtown Boston, which has a train that goes straight to New Bedford.

Parking
We appreciate people carpooling as much as possible to reduce emissions and reduce strain on the SMAST parking lots. The SMAST campus has limited parking for large events. Event parking is restricted to the east end of the SMAST West parking lot, which can be accessed from the SMAST-West (706 South Rodney French Blvd). There are an additional 20+ parking spots in a gravel lot at the end of the SMAST West parking lot. There is a path at the end of the parking lot that will lead you to the bike and walking path along Rodney French Blvd. If the SMAST-West parking lot is full, there will likely also be space available in the South lot behind the new facility, which can be accessed from our SMAST East entrance via O’Connell Drive. We ask that attendees not park in the paved spaces directly behind the facility, but rather park in the spaces in the fenced-in area in the rear parking lot (labeled “South lot” on the attached map). There are 4 handicap parking spots on the west side of SMAST-East and 4 electric car charging stations in the rear of the facility.

Sponsored Students

ARROW has secured a limited number of rooms at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New Bedford to house sponsored students in double-occupancy rooms. The campus point of contact faculty will provide the names of their sponsored students and we will reach out to those students to make room arrangements. Sponsored students do not need to make their own hotel reservations and the cost of their room will be covered by ARROW. A credit card may be requested at check-in for any incidental charges.

Please note: the majority of these rooms are reserved for check-in on Tuesday, May 26th, and check-out on Friday, May 29th. We can accommodate a limited number of students who – for travel reasons – must stay until Saturday, May 30th. Please let us know if your travel arrangements require an additional night’s stay.

All other SEA 26 Attendees

Hotel accommodations for all other attendees should be made individually. Faculty and non-sponsored students should inquire with their home institutions about covering the cost for these rooms using ARROW institutional funds.
