ARROW faculty and students provide testimony in favor of the Massachusetts DRIVE Initiative
Last week several ARROW members provided testimony in favor of the Massachusetts Discovery, Research and Innovation for a Vibrant Economy (DRIVE) Initiative. The DRIVE Initiative proposes to provide $400 million in state funding to preserve Massachusetts’s world-renowned research and innovation economy and create thousands of new jobs during this time of federal funding uncertainty amid the loss or diminishment of federal research funding.
ARROW Director Sanjay Arwade along with ARROW faculty members Steve Lohrenz (UMass Dartmouth) and Chris Niezrecki (UMass Lowell) and ARROW students Max Raha (Northeastern University) and Peter Schimpf (UMass Amherst) spoke at a hearing of the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Economic Development & Emerging Technologies in support of the initiative.
Following their testimony, ARROW Director Sanjay Arwade appeared with UMass Professor and Massachusetts Teachers Association President Max Page on the WHMP program Talk the Talk to discuss recent federal funding impacts and to express their support for the DRIVE Initiative.
