ARROW student Stephen Ampleman presents at ROSEI Summit
ARROW student Stephen Ampleman, working with ARROW faculty Dennice Gayme, presents the poster From Cut-In to Rated: Multi-Region Floating Offshore Wind Farm Control for Secondary Frequency Regulation at the Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) summit at Johns Hopkins University last month.
Floating offshore wind farms face unique challenges related to turbine stability and the way individual turbine dynamics influence overall farm-level power production. Stephen addresses this problem through a control co-design framework, developing coordinated turbine- and farm-level control laws that ensure stable turbine operation while directly enabling participation in secondary frequency regulation markets.
