ARROW student Yishu Zhang presents at ROSEI summit

ARROW student Yishu Zhang, working with ARROW faculty Dennice Gayme and Charles Meneveau, recently presented the poster A Large Eddy Simulation Study of Turbine Pitch Motion Effects on Fully Developed Floating Wind Farm Boundary Layers at the Ralph O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) summit at Johns Hopkins University.

Yishu’s research shows that a turbine’s pitching motion strongly affects the velocity of its wake, and thus it must be taken into consideration to avoid overestimating power production in mesoscale modeling of floating offshore wind farms.
