Power
ARROW-Power addresses the transmission system and the power produced at the turbine, including understanding the local and farm flow physics at a level appropriate for novel control schemes for reliability and resilience of the delivered power. Specific efforts include:
- transmission and grid infrastructure planning for a resilient power grid
- inter-/Intra-wind farm flow physics to enable reliable OSW control systems
- power resource reliability through meso-scale ocean-atmosphere modeling
Since the transmission grid provides the interface between OSW generation and users, grid resilience is of paramount importance and receives targeted attention within ARROW-Power. Modeling of the interactions of the atmosphere and farms serves to tighten uncertainty bounds on the loads and power generation of OSW, having direct impact on costs driven by O&M and power revenue.
