ARROW Faculty Hosts NSF-funded Workshop on Offshore Geotechnics for OSW
ARROW faculty member, Zachary Westgate, hosted an NSF-funded workshop on offshore geotechnics for off-shore wind. This workshop brought together a diverse group of experts in seabed characterization, offshore wind development, and data science to tackle the urgent challenges of advancing sustainable energy solutions. Participants, including academics, offshore wind developers, consultants, contractors, and government regulators, explored how improved geodata uncertainty quantification and ground model reliability can reduce material use, minimize supply chain constraints, and lower the carbon footprint of offshore renewable energy projects. The conference’ aims ‘s goal was to influence policy, enhance data collection standards, and drive innovation in integrated seabed characterization methods to ensure long-term benefits for both local communities and the global transition to net zero.
