ARROW student Peter Schimpf presents at Energy Transition Symposium
ARROW student Peter Schimpf, PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering at UMass Amherst, working with ARROW faculty Emmanuel Branlard and Matthew Lackner, presented the poster “Offshore Wind Energy Systems” at the 2026 Energy Transition Symposium at UMass Amherst.
Peter’s poster looked at the interdisciplinary benefits and challenges facing offshore wind development and how they interact with one another. He covered the engineering challenges related to growing turbines and transmission costs, offshore-specific benefits related to siting power output, and provided a brief overview of the global state of offshore wind today.
